Baccarat
Baccarat is played in nearly all casinos. It is a simple game, very similar to 'chemin de fer'. In baccarat, the bank is held either by casino or by the highest bidder, who pays a percentage of winnings to the casino as commission. the players can be of any number, and they arrange themselves around the table. When the seats are all taken, players stand behind. The banker sits in the center, and deals only three hands, one to the players on the left, one to the players on the right and one to himself. A player may call 'banco' and bet against the whole of the bank; otherwise the players combine their stakes to equal the amount put up by the bank. The banker may not reduce the bank, and any winnings are added to it. The banker may withdraw at any time, when the bank is auctioned again.
Roulette
Roulette is the most glamorous of casino games, and its tables attract a higher proportion of women courting Lady Luck than any others. It is not difficult to see why. The rich green baize cloth marked in red, black and gold on which the stakes are placed, the smoothly spinning wooden wheel, with its red and black compartments, the numbers in gold, the glittering silver handle by which the croupier spins the wheel, clicks its way round the wheel until it comes to rest in the pocket of the winning number, together create an air of luxury, richened, sophisticated and, if one is so inclined, quietly expensive vie.
Craps
Craps is essentially an American game. Of gambling pursuits probably only horse racing decides the future ownership of more Americans dollars than in private games, but no casino can do without crap tables. Cheating in private games is widespread, as is hustling, where innocents who persuade them to take the worst of the odds. Craps is an extremely fast-moving game, several bets can be struck and large sums change hands every minute.

Chemin de fer
Chemin de fer is basically the same as baccarat, with three modification. First of all the bank passes round the table, each player keeping it until he loses a coup. when he passes it on. The game is therefore suitable for private play; when played in a casino a commission is paid to the proprietors on the bank's wins. The second modification is that the bank plays against a single hand instead of two, and the third is that all options except one are removed. the rules be followed by player and banker.
Blackjack
Blackjack is unique among casinos games: sometimes its actually possible for a skilful player to enjoy an advantage over the banker! Proof of this is that some casinos have found it necessary to ban consistent winners from playing. It is impossible to define the advantage precisely for two main reasons: blackjack is a game in which there are so many options, and the rules vary considerably from casino to casino. Also it must be said that it is a game where it is not difficult to cheat and where a dealer may deny information to a player by not showing the cards when another player 'busts' and does not turn over his cards as he is entitled to do.
